About Me

Who Am I?

Good question…here’s the beginning of an answer.

My full name is Carlos Roberto Tronco. (It sounds best if you can roll your r’s). Some of my friends call me “Cars.” No it’s not because I’m particularly into cars, but because it’s an easily uttered monosyllabic version of ‘Carlos’ from the days when I used to play basketball regularly.

A little about me

I currently work as a Lead SysAdmin focusing on AD and Exchange (part of my job description), and some other stuff (not really part of job description) for a software company in the Portland area. Prior to that worked as a fledgling Infrastructure Architect for Standard Insurance in the Portland area. Previously I’ve worked as a Consultant for Collective Technologies, (a company based in Austin, TX.) While at Collective I worked all over the country and around various parts of the world as well, traveling for previous clients. I spent five months working in Clermont-Ferrand, France at the end of 1998 and begining of 1999 for a client, as well as several weeks in Sydney, Australia and a few weeks in Wellington, NZ, and most recently spent about three months in Europe working in Belgium, France, Italy and Germany. I also spent some time in Silicon Valley, Boston, and Herndon, VA (outside of Washington, DC) on my three previous assignments. Prior to that I spent four and a half years as a Sysadmin at the now defunct ROSS Technology.

In September of ‘99 I moved to Portland from Austin, TX on something of a whim. I had decided it was time to get out of Texas for a while and head to cooler climes. Since moving to Portland I’ve: met a girl and gotten married, had two kids, learned to snowboard and gained a better appreciation for the process of making and selling wine.

Some of my interests

Spending time with my family.

Anything to do with Computers, Scripting/Programming utils for Sysadmins, technology in general.

All kinds of Music: Rock, Classical (esp classical Spanish guitar), opera, Flamenco, jazz etc….

Traveling and Roadtrips. (Which probably helps explain why I willingly spent 4 and a half years living places other than Austin and Portland) Some of the places I’ve been in the last few years for fun include Portland (well I actually live here now),Seattle, Paris, New York, Santa Fe, Hawaii, Spain ( Barcelona, Girona, San Sebastian ,Madrid, Seville, Santiago), Amsterdam,London, Australia, and New Zealand.

I’ve also been accused of really liking Aquariums a little too much.
